Jack J. Gold

Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner (Ret.)

After serving 26 years as a California Superior Court Commissioner in the Criminal and Juvenile Departments of the largest criminal court in the country, The Law Office of Jack J. Gold brings a unique combination of courtroom skills and judicial experience to the table.  He has come away with a vast library of knowledge and wisdom in the art of courtroom criminal defense. He is now putting that knowledge and wisdom to good use as a fierce and aggressive advocate for those accused of criminal acts.

He began the practice of law in 1971. Attorney Jack Gold or as his associates call him, "The Commissioner," has practiced in Federal and State Courts.

Prior to his 26 years of service as a Criminal and Juvenile Superior Court Commissioner, Jack J. Gold practiced law in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley as a criminal defense attorney.

"The Commissioner" has defended thousands of criminal cases, including narcotic possession and trafficking cases, sex cases, gang cases and violent crime cases, including murder.

One of the most notorious cases Jack Gold handled was the "largest" shipment of Quaaludes ever to be trafficked from the Los Angeles International Airport. His client was facing a federal prison sentence of 53 years, but "The Commissioner" negotiated a probationary sentence with no time in prison. Jack J. Gold also handled the famous "film pirate cases" where his clients were criminally charged with intellectual property theft and copyright infringement in United States District Court. He secured a complete dismissal on all counts for his client.

In 1982, Mr. Gold was appointed to the Superior Court as a Commissioner and was immediately assigned to preside over Juvenile Court matters. Over the course of his 26 years ruling on cases he has heard in excess of 20 cases a day involving juvenile delinquency. In addition to presiding over criminal matters, Mr. Gold spent 2 years in the Dependency Court hearing child abuse, neglect, abandonment and child molestation cases.

Jack J. Gold has been the recipient of numerous awards of excellence from a number of bar associations, elected officials and the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors. He also was a Founding Member of and later served 2 terms as President of the Los Angeles County Juvenile Courts Bar Association, one of the first of its kind in the Country.

In addition to Jack J. Gold's courtroom experience both as a seasoned trial attorney and as a Commissioner, he has always been active in the legal community and has volunteered his time to the community at large. His extensive experience and knowledge of criminal law has made him a highly sought after keynote speaker, lecturing to numerous community groups and organizations, including the Statewide Juvenile Judicial Conference about gangs and Juvenile Crime.
