4th of July DUI Checkpoints Southern California
The July 4, 2011 holiday weekend begins. Law enforcement is on the hunt for drunk drivers. Cops are looking to arrest as many people as possible. To catch drunk drivers DUI Sobriety Checkpoints will be set up across the Southland.
A DUI sobriety checkpoint in North Hollywood began Friday July 1, 2011 afternoon. It was one in nearly about 12 that will be set up this weekend all across LA.
The LAPD boasts last year over the Fourth of July weekend their squad arrested 54 for DUI, but they do not know how many of those were actually convicted of DUI. DUI Sobriety checkpoints are controversial tools in enforcing California DUI laws despite the trajedy of the number of people killed and injured in alcohol-related crashes. These so-called checkpoints expand police power. They invade our privacy without any individualized justification.
In L.A. County the CHP the LAPD and other agencies will form the 100 DUI Taskforce. They set up DUI sobriety checkpoints and DUI patrols from Pasadena to Palmdale, as well as Malibu to the South Bay. However, many of the checkpoints fail to conform to Constitutional standards and should be challenged in court by a DUI attorney at our firm.
LA List reports LAPD will hold two, one in Cahuenga Pass on Friday and another in South L.A on Saturday. Officers will run the Friday night checkpoint at Cahuenga and Broadlawn from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. As of May 1, the North Hollywood area has seen over 79 DUI related collisions, which is an 18 percent increase from the previous year.
In South L.A., the LAPD will run a checkpoint 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Florence Avenue between Broadway and Main Street.
Other locations around the Los Angeles region include several in Orange County, unincorporated East Pasadena, Ventura County and West Covina.
The Ramona Sentinel warns those heading to San Diego that San Diego County's Avoid the 14 DUI Task Force's officers are conducting an aggressive DUI enforcement assault during the July 4, 2011 weekend with DUI DWI sobriety drunk drivers license checkpoints and DUI saturation patrols.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department runs a DUI sobriety roadblock somewhere in Aliso Viejo from 6:30 July 1, 2011 to 2:30 a.m . Saturday, July 2.

A DUI checkpoint will be run from 7 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 to 3 a.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011 on Culver Drive at Farwell in Irvine, California
