DUI Checkpoint in Long Beach May 14-15
A DUI checkpoint is scheduled for this weekend in North Long Beach.
The Long Beach Police Department will conduct the checkpoint, which will screen for impaired drivers and those driving on suspended or without licenses, from 6 p.m. Saturday May 14 until 2 a.m. Sunday May 15 in the North Division, according to Lisa Massacani, a
Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman.
The DUI checkpoint is supposed to reduce the number of people killed and/or injured in alcohol involved crashes, Massacani said.
Funding is provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Remember, there are several Constitutional requirements police officers must follow before any so-called DUI checkpoint can achieve the status of a legal checkpoint rather than an unconstitutional roadblock.
